Explanation:

To,

The Commissioner of Police,

Mumbai.

I am constrained to draw your attention to the growing menace of thieves in my locality.

The policeman is a rare sight in this crowded and growing locality. Taking advantage of the absence of the police around, some goondas are freely indulging in thefts and robberies. During this week as many as twenty thefts have taken place. No house which is locked even for a few hours during the day is safe. Burglary too is on the increase. The other day four miscreants broke into a house and relieved the inmates, at the point of the knife, of all the cash and jewellery they had.

I request you to take immediate steps to stem this tide of insecurity.

Yours faithfully

Subject: Theft in Mayur Vihar

Sir

Recently there has been an alarming increase in the number of thefts in Mayur Vihar

of Delhi. It is extremely heart breaking that hardly a day passes when there is no

theft or burglary. The residents regularly report the cases to the nearest police station

but no progress has so far been made in tracing the culprits. Now people have started

looking at the police, the so called upholders and guardians of morality, with some

amount of suspicion. If somehow a culprit is caught, it is learnt that after some days,

he is released on bail. How is it that culprits are going scot-free ? Is the police an

accomplice? To top it all there is an increasing danger that the residents feel tor their

lives since the thieves come armed with knives and pistols.

It is a sincere request that night patrolling in this area should be intensified and allout efforts be made to nab the culprits.

Thanking you and looking forward for a favourable consideration of our need.

Yours faithfully

Bharati
