"The Kamala Mills fire accident took place in Lower Parel area in Mumbai, is mainly human-made disaster, which killed nearly 14 people, out of them 12 women were killed.

1. Causes of fire:

The main cause of the fire was not really known. Initially, it was reported that the fire broke out inside the Kamala Mills (the roof top of the building) which is the fourth floor at Lower Parel area, Mumbai. After investigation it was found that the main cause of the fire was from a flying ember from Mijio's Bistro pub.

2. Effects of fire:

The blaze resulted the fatal death of 14 people, out of them 12 were women, who were attending the birthday party in the roof top. The blaze also affected many TV channels transmissions and advertising companies in the below floor. Many people have injured due to this fire accident.

3. Fire safety precautionary measures:

Proper housekeeping, handling of chemicals in proper way, proper waste disposal, proper electrical maintenance, maximum security in buildings, fully charged fire extinguishers, More than one emergency exit, Proper fire drills and evacuation plans, etc.

4. Fire safety measures mandatory by Government of India:

Adequate numbers of exit to escape, proper outline for the way to exit doors, install smoke detection and reductions systems, the interiors are decorated with fire resistant materials, make the building handy to fire fighters, and strictly follow the safety rules while constructing the building

5. Kamala Mills does not have any proper safety measures:

He building does not have fire safety alarm and no proper emergency exit, though it is a major industrial compound with pubs and TV channels. Since, the place is very congested, once the fire started, so the people do not have proper exit to escape. Thus, mainly due to suffocation 14 people died and many got injured."
