Peninsula is a region which is covered in three direction by water, and therefore, as it turns out to be, a low intensity of earthquake can be felt in that region.

Since there is no neighboring land that can pass on the shock waves to the region, low intensity of earthquakes are felt in this region, and hence it gets the name of minimum intensity zones.
