Dear diary,
Today was a very satisfying day. Today in the morning we assembled in the school quadrangle to set off for cleaning a slum area. When we boarded the bus, I was feeling very proud of myselves for being a part of 'Clean India Campaign'. I was really delighted and excited to meet the slum area residents and go on with our cleanliness campaign. While we were cleaning the areas, me and my friends also talked to some of the residents about the problems they face because of the dirt and littering here and there. They said us that in every house, one or the other person gets sick of the foul smelling garbage. When we had completed cleaning the whole area, we were shocked to the before and after image of the slum. The residents thanked us profusely and I felt elated. I truly thank my school for taking such an initiative and making us volunteer for such a good chore.
Though at the end of the day my uniform had some stains on it, I felt that it is worth it. I have now known that helping others gives us a certain satisfaction and contentment. Now I will always wait for such initiatives and take part on them with whole joy.
