The correct answer is false.

Recombination does occur in solar cells.

The electron that resides in the conduction band is not stable and in order to stabilize itself it gets transferred to a vacant lower energy level position i.e. in the valence band . As a result of this, it also removes a hole effectively. This entire process is known as recombination.
