There are 23 pair of chromosomes in our nucleus. Out of which 22 pairs are same in both male and female. The last pair which is different is called sex chromosomes, which contains exactly half the amount of DNA present in the cell. So, during fertilisation or nuclear fission of male and female gamete it results in recombination of nuclear DNA.
