Momentum in simple terms in the stimulus gained by a moving object. It is the product of mass of a particle times it's velocity.

So any moving object with mass has momentum.

p = m  \times v

Angular momentum on the other hand deals with rotating objects and spinning objects.

Both momentum and angular momentum are vector quantities ie they have both magnitude as well as direction.They are denoted respectively as

\begin{array}{l}\ \vec{p}\end{array} \begin{array}{l}\vec{L}\end{array}

Angular momentum for object in a circular path is given by

\begin{array}{l}\vec{L}=\vec{r}\times \vec{p}\end{array}

L

is the angular momentum

r

is the radius of the circular path

p

is the linear momentum.

As

p = mv

So we can write the above equation as

L = mvr

Si unit of Angular momentum is

Kg.m2.s-
