Rectangle Courtyard is 18 m is 15 cm long and 13 m 20 cm is bored it is paved with square tiles of the same size find the number of tiles required

Answer: 88 tiles

length of rectangle = 18m 15 cm = 1800+15 = 1815 cm

breadth of rectangle = 13 m 20cm = 1300 +20 = 1320 cm

We must find the HCF of this two no ; l & b

So the HCF (1320,1815) = 165

So the square tile which has 165cm has the side is used to cover the floor.

So the no. tiles required = area of the floor ÷ area of the tiles .

Area of square tiles =side ×side = 165×165 = 27225 cm²

Area of the rectangle = l × b = 1320 × 1815 = 2395800 cm²

No. Of tiles= 2395800 cm²/27225 cm ² =88

Therefore we require 88 number of tiles to pave the floor.
