Given
Rectangular block of wood has dimensions 24 cm
by 9 cm by 7 cm. It is cut up into bricks. Each brick cube of side 3 cm.
To find
Find the largest number of bricks that can be cut from the block.
Solution
Rectangular block measures
- Length = 24cm
- Breadth = 9cm
- Height = 7cm
Volume of rectangular block
= length × breadth × height
= 24 × 9 × 7
= 1512 cm³
Edge of cubical brick = 3cm
Volume of cubical brick
= a³
= (3)³
= 27cm³
Number of brick
= Volume of rectangular block/ volume of cubical brick
= 1512/27 = 56
Note
- Volume of cube = a³
- Volume of cuboid = l × b×h
- Volume of cone = 1/3πr²h
- Volume of cylinder = πr²h
