Answer:

Since violet light has a shorter wavelength, it is slowed more than the longer wavelengths of red light. Consequently, violet light is bent the most while red light is bent the least

Red light is least affected by atmospheric refraction due to :

  • HIGHER WAVELENGTH

Cauchy's Equation tells that :

  • The deviation of any component of a polychromatic light is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the light.

 \mu = A +  \dfrac{B}{ { \lambda}^{2} }  +  \dfrac{C}{ { \lambda}^{4} }  + ...

Neglecting the higher powers :

 \implies \mu = A +  \dfrac{B}{ { \lambda}^{2} }

  • So, red light has higher value of \lambda. This will lead to a lower value of \mu. Lower value of refractive index will have a lower deviation.

Hope It Helps.
