Redox Reaction

  • It is a type of chemical reaction in which the atom change their oxidation numbers.
  • During Redox Reaction, both oxidation of substance and reduction of substance occurs.
  • So, therefore combination of oxidation and reduction is called Redox Reaction.

Reaction =>

  • ZnO(s) + C(s) -----> Zn(s) + CO(g)
  • CuO(s) + H2(g) ----> Cu(s) + H20(l)

Oxidation Reaction

  • Some of the atoms of the substance losses electrons and gets oxidised
  • When atom oxidised, it is called Oxidation reaction

Reduction Reaction

  • Some of the atoms of the substance gain electrons and gets reduced.
  • When atom reduced, it is called Reduction Reaction.
