The first law of motion can be mathematically stated from the mathematical expression from the second law of motion
F=ma
F= m((v-u)/t)
Ft = mv - mu
When 'F' is equal to 0
Ft = mv - mu
0 = mv - mu
mv = mu
which means, v=u for time 't'
This means that the object will continuemoving with uniform velocity 'v' throughout the time 't'.
If 'u' is 0 then 'v' will also be 0. That is object will remain at rest.
