Answer:

To reduce a rational to standard form,

Just calculate HCF (GCD) of both numerator and denominator and divide it to numerator and denominator.

In the question, we have:

Numerator = -16

Denominator = 56

So, HCF of them = -8

Now, what you have to do is divide both numerator and denominator by -8

So, Numerator = -16/-8 = 2

& Dinominator = 56/(-8) = -7

Hence, Required fraction in standard form

 \displaystyle  =  \frac{2}{ - 7}

 \huge =  \frac{ - 2}{7}

and that's the answer...

Hope it helps.
