To find:

Simplest fraction forms.

Solution:

(a) \frac{14}{21}

We see that the highest common factor (HCF) is 7, thus diving numerator and denominator with 7, we get

= 2/3

(b) \frac{42}{56}

We see that the HCF is 14,  thus diving numerator and denominator with 14, we get,

= 3/4

(c) \frac{27}{36}

We see that the HCF is 9, thus diving numerator and denominator with 9, we get,

= 3/4

(d) \frac{40}{144}

We see that the HCF is 8, thus diving numerator and denominator with 8, we get,

= 5/18

Hence, the fractions in simplest form are: (a)  \frac{2}{3}  ,  (b) \frac{3}{4}   ,  (c)  \frac{3}{4}    ,  (d)  \frac{5}{18}
