Double Displacement reactions do not need any oxidising or reducing agents.

  • In simple terms, double displacement reactions are not redox reactions.

  • This is because the oxidation number of individual elements of reactants do not change upon formation of products.

Let's take an example:

1.\:Na_{2}SO_{4}+BaCl\rightarrow BaSO_{4}+2NaCl

2.\:AgNO_{3}+NaCl\rightarrow AgCl+NaNO_{3}

  • Another type of reaction which are not REDOX are ACID-BASE NEUTRALIZATION Reaction.

1.\:HCl+NaOH\rightarrow H_{2}O+NaCl

Hope It Helps.
