When Reduction and Oxidation takes place they are together called Redox reaction .

Reduction + Oxidation = Redox .

Reduction : There is a gain of H ( hydrogen )

2) Loss of Oxygen.

3) Gain of electron .

Oxidation : .There is a Loss of H ( hydrogen )

3) Loss of electron

Reduced : Oxidizing agent .

Oxidized : Reducing agent .

Eg : ZnO + C = Zn + CO

{ZnO is reduced. } ( CO is oxidized )

so ZnO is oxidizing agent and CO is reducing agent here .
