Original price of onion is Rs 8 per kg

Solution:

Let the price of sugar = x per kg

New price will be = x - 1 per kg

Reduction of a rupee in the price of onion makes the possibility of buying one more kg of onion for Rs.56

Therefore,

\frac{56}{x - 1 } - \frac{56}{x} = 1\\\\56x - 56x +56 = x^2 - x\\\\x^2 - x - 56 = 0\\\\(x- 8)(x+7) = 0\\\\x = 8 \text{ or } x = -7

Ignore the negative value

Therefore, Original price of onion is Rs 8 per kg
