let the orriginal price of sugar be Rs x per kg

quantity purchased is 16/x kg.

after reducing quantity purchased = 16/x - 2kg

 ⇒16/x - 2 = 16/x + 4

⇒ x = 4

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

He purchases 4 kg more sugar for 16 rupees means,He purchases 1 kg more sugar for every 4 rupees. This is because there is a reduction of 2 rupee for 1 kg.This simply means now he gets sugar for 4 rupees that he would have got for 6 rupees(4+2).So the the 16 rupee sugar he bought would have cost him 24 rupees if the price reduction had not happened. So there is a reduction of 8 rupees(24-16).This is due to the 2 Rupee/Kg reduction. So this 8 divided by 2 gives 4 which is the answer.
