Reema and Meena went to the top of a building. Reema dropped a stone of mass M kg and Meena dropped a bigger stone of mass 5M kg. For their surprise both stone reaches to the ground at same time. They raised this query with their science teacher in the school. The science teacher explained them, the actual concept of free fall. (i) What are the values shown by Reema and Meena? [1] (ii) Explain why two different masses experience equal acceleration during free fall near the surface of earth

1. Both Reema and Meena r well observers....(1 mark ans.)
2. Both the bodies experiences equal acceleration during free fall because of acceleration due to gravity ....the same experiment was conducted by Galelio Galilei ( my favourite )...by throwing two bodies of equal masses(a stone and a feather)...he found the same and named the factor as acceleration due to gravity (denoted by 'g' )....hope it helps
