Given that she used 8 tomatoes and 2 potatoes to make 8 cups of soup.

8 tomatoes + 2 potatoes = 8 cups

1 tomato + (1/4) potato = 1 cup

Thus, we know that she use 1 tomato and quarter potato to make each cups of soup.

Multiplying both sides by 12,

12 cups = 12 tomatoes + 12(1/4) potatoes

. = 12 tomatoes + 3 potatoes

Hence, she uses 12 tomatoes and 3 potatoes for making 12 cups of soup.
