when she enters the room then due to darkness the colour of surroundings looks black and we know that when all the colours removed from a place then it's looks black then since there was darkness some of the colour of the object cannot be seen hence the girl cannot identify the colours of the object

THE PUPIL APPEARS TO BE BLACK AS ALL THE LIGHT FALLING ON IT ENTERS THE EYE AND NO LIGHT IS REFLECTED BACK....
