If Rita was left with rs 1680 after spending 25% on school fee and 40% on buying books out, then Reena initially has Rs. 24000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the initially Reena had Rs. “x”.

It is given that,

Reena gave 20% of the money to Rita i.e., Rita has = Rs. \frac{20}{100}x

Rita had spent 25% & 40 % of the amount Reena gave her on school fee and on buying books respectively.

After spending Rita is left with Rs. 1680

Therefore, we can write the equation as,

\frac{20}{100}*x = [\frac{25}{100} * (\frac{20x}{100})] + [\frac{40}{100} * (\frac{20x}{100})] + 1680

⇒ 0.2x = 0.05x + 0.08x + 1680

⇒ 0.2x – 0.13x = 1680

⇒ 0.07x = 1680

x = Rs. 24000

Thus, Reena initially has Rs. 24000.
