A sheet of a paper and a crumpled paper are thrown down from the same height and

time of fall is noted down.

(a) Which paper will fall down first in a open container?

(b) Which paper will fall down first in a closed container?

(c) Give reason for your answers.​

In the first container the crumbled paper will reach first due to air resistance.

in closed container both will land at the same time as there is no air resistivity acting on them.

Answer:

A sheet of paper falls slower then the one crumpled into a ball because the surface area of the ball is much lower than that of the sheet. Thus the upward force exerted by air on the sheet is much as compared to the one exerted on the ball. Hence the sheet falls slower.
