Difference in boiling the seawater and distilled water
Explanation:
- We know that distilled water does not have any minerals or nutrients in it. It is just plain water or simply H2O.
- On the other hand, seawater has a lot of minerals and salts in it. The concentration of salts in seawater is around 35 g in every 1000mL.
- Therefore, any non-volatile solute raises the boiling temperature of the solvent e.g. it takes more time for the internal pressure to reach the external pressure.
- Hence, seawater will boil at a slightly higher temperature than the distilled water.
