Reflect on the Filipino concept of a hero. Now that the nature of the concept of "hero" has been clarified as not to be a posthumous award, how can a student like you become a bayani in your own way?

The Filipino concept of a hero is determined by the following characteristics which are used to evaluate whether or not a historical figure is a national hero-

  • Those who have a national vision and then strive and work to achieve it, a person's sacrifices for the country's well-being.
  • The motivation for achieving the ideal and the means used to achieve it.
  • Those who established the nation's constitution and laws and the moral character of the man in question is that of a hero.
  • Heroes are those who have a sense of nation and then strive for the country's independence.
  • Heroes are the ones who define and contribute to a country's freedom and order system.
  • Heroes are the ones who make a positive difference in a country's quality of life and destiny.
  • A hero is a representation of the people.
  • A hero considers the future, particularly future generations, and his compassion for them must be evident in his actions and goals.
  • The selection of a hero entails not just recalling a historical occurrence or event, but also the complete process that led to this individual becoming a hero.

So, in order to recognize a hero, I'll use the criterion. Because, as it is known to us that, heroes are discovered rather than born, anyone may be a hero.

  • By working hard and utilizing our knowledge and abilities to become productive members of society, we may all be heroes in our own right. We may also utilize our profession as a weapon to become national heroes.
  • By volunteering to help those who are in need, whether it be for a person, a group, or a community.
  • By undertaking acts with no expectation of remuneration or advantage from others.
  • Recognizing and embracing the potential danger or sacrifice that heroic deeds may entail.
