Reflection is bouncing back of light and Refraction is passing of light from different media

Explanation:

Reflection of light :-

  • When a ray of light strikes at any reflecting surface in bounce back from the surface this phenomenon is known as reflection of light
  • It follows two laws :
  1. Angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection
  2. Incident ray, reflected ray and the normal lies in the same plane

Refraction of light :-

  • When a ray of light enters from one medium and strikes at the surface which separate the media the moves through another medium with a deviation. If it moves from denser to rarer medium the it bends away from the normal and if it moves from rarer to denser medium then it bends toward the normal
  • It also follows two laws :-
  1. Ratio of Sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is given by a constant which is equal to the refractive index of medium
  2. Incident ray, refracted ray and normal lies in the same plane
