Answer:

“Everything in your life is a reflection

of a choice you have made. If

you want a different result,

make a different choice”.

Individuals need to be taught the skill of self-reflecting to change their actions and improve their own levels of performance. When teachers use self-reflection sheets, data is gathered about feelings and opinions.  After academic assignments or assessments, children are often asked to think about their own likes, dislikes, strengths, and needs. Self-reflection is also valuable to use when behavior intervention is necessary.

Surveys can be completed quickly to gather information about academic tasks and other situations that occur during the day.  Items can be checked off in different categories, questions can be answered, and comments can be made. At Primrose Hill School, many teachers use surveys related to reading, writing, math, and science.  In some classrooms, children are asked to reflect on their week of learning. Recess surveys help to determine how students interact socially with one another. The third grade teachers had students complete a survey to get input on how they feel about going to Hampden Meadows next year. Parents have also completed surveys to help teachers understand social and home components.

Self-reflection sheets and surveys can be used with both children and adults.  They provide individuals with a way to make their feelings and opinions known. The information that is gathered can be used to determine and implement changes that need to be made for growth and improvement.
