Reflex :

Reflexes are the involuntarily actions which occur unknowingly in our body. It is an automatic; quick involuntarily actions in the body brought by a stimulus. It occurs under the control of Cerebrum. It is mainly due to self-protection.

Commands originate mostly in the spinal cord and autonomic nervous system and few in the brain as well. It involves muscles as well as brain.

Types of reflexes :

  1. Natural (inborn) reflex
  2. Natural (inborn) reflex Conditioned (acquired) reflex

Natural reflex –

This is one in which no previous experience is needed or no learning is required. These are inborn, i.e. inherited from the parents.

Example :

Blinking, coughing, sneezing.

Conditioned reflex –

This is one which develops during the lifetime, due to experience or learning. That is this is not inborn. It's an autonomic response brought about due to a previous or learned experience.
