1.5

{\huge{\boxed{\mathcal{\red{Explanation}}}}}

Refractive Index of a medium is the ratio of speed of light in air to speed of light in that medium .

It is given that :

Refractive Index of liquid = 1.2

Refractive Index of solid = 1.8

Now Refractive Index of a medium with respect to another medium is the ratio of speed of light in that medium to speed of light In that second medium.

For this case refractive Index of solid with respect to liquid is :

 \frac{refractive \: index \: of \: solid}{refractive \: index \: of \: liquid}

 =  \frac{1.8}{1.2}

 = 1.5

Thua refractive Index of given solid with respect to given liquid is 1.5 .

  • In total internal reflection the angle of incidence is greater than critical angle.
  • Angle of incidence at which angle of refraction is 90° is called the critical angle.
  • Mirage is an optical illusion which takes place due to total internal reflection.
