The refractive index of air with respect to Glass is equal to 0.526.

Given:

The refractive index of Glass with respect to air = 1.9

To Find:

The refractive index of air with respect to Glass.

Solution:

→ The refractive index of Material A with respect to Material B is equal to the refractive index of Material A divided by the refractive index of Material B.

In the given question:

The refractive index of Glass with respect to Air = 1.9

\boldsymbol{\therefore Refractive\:index\:of\:Glass\:w.r.t.\:Air= \frac{Refractive\:index\:of\:Glass}{Refractive\:index\:of\:Air} }

\boldsymbol{\therefore Refractive\:index\:of\:Glass\:w.r.t.\:Air=1.9-Eq.(i)}

The refractive index of Air with respect to Glass would be:

 \boldsymbol{\therefore Refractive\:index\:of\:Air\:w.r.t.\:Glass= \frac{Refractive\:index\:of\:Air}{Refractive\:index\:of\:Glass} }

 \boldsymbol{\therefore Refractive\:index\:of\:Air\:w.r.t.\:Glass= \frac{1}{1.9} }\\\\\boldsymbol{\therefore Refractive\:index\:of\:Air\:w.r.t.\:Glass= 0.526 }

Therefore the refractive index of air with respect to Glass comes out to be equal to 0.526.
