refractive index of red and violet light are 1.52 and 1.54 respectively find the velocities of these two colours in glass.Also find the ratio of velocities of these two colours in vacuum.

vr = c / μr

vr = 3×10^8 / 1.52

vr = 1.97×10^8 m/s

Velocity of red light through glass is -

vb = c / μb

vb = 3×10^8 / 1.54

vb = 1.94×10^8 m/s

Ratio of velocities of these two colors is -

cr/cb = μb/μr

cr/cb = 1.54/1.52

cr/cb = 1.013
