Answer:

the refractive index of benzene with respect to water is 0.89

the refractive index of water with respect to air is 1.33

n = v1 / v2

1.33 =  3 . 10 raise to 8 m /s  / v2

v2 =  3 . 10 raise to 8 m /s / 1.33

v2 = 2.25 . 10 raise to 8

n = v1 /v2

1.50 = 3 . 10 raise to 8 m /s  / v2

v2 = 3 . 10 raise to 8 m /s  / 1.50

v2 = 2 . 10 rasie to 8 m/s

n = v2 / v1

n = 2  . 10 rasie to 8 m/s / 2.25 . 10 raise to 8

n = 0.89

( here v1 is the velocity of light in water , v2 is the velocity of light in benzene )
