Answer:

• The meaning of refractive index of glass is 1.52 is that the speed of light in glass 1/1.52 times the speed of light in air/vaccum ,i.e., speed of light in glass .

→ Refractive Index = Speed of Light in Air/Speed of light in Glass

•n = c/v

where,

n denote refractive index

c denote speed of light in vacuum or air.

v denote speed of light in glass

Substitute the value we get

→ 1.52 = 3×10⁸/v

→ 1.52 × v = 3 × 10⁸

→ v = 3 × 10⁸/1.52

→ v = 1.97 × 10⁸ m/s

Answer:

Refractive index = speed of light in air /speed of light in gas

↦n =c/v

where,

  • n denote refractive index
  • c denote speed of light in vacuum or air
  • v denote speed of light in glass

substitute the value we get

⇒1.52 =3 ×10^8/v

⇒1.52×v =3 × 10^8

⇒v =3 × 10^8/1.52

⇒v = 1.97 × 10^8 m/s

Thanks!!
