Genetic mechanisms are one of the important methods of enzyme activity regulation.

For example:

A Gene in the chromosomes will undergo replication -> transcription-> translation

to produce enzymes (proteins).

Now, if Gene transcription is stopped, enzyme production will stop and metabolism for the particular product will stop.

This is genetics involved enzyme activity regulation.

When it comes to non-genetic enzyme regulation, we mainly refer to other ways of making enzyme inactive.

For example : certain reversible covalent changes in an enzyme can make it inactive and regulations occurs.

examples of such covalent changes are methylation, phosphorylation, sulphonation, etc.
