  • Rate of melatonin secretion is affected by variations of sunlight .
  • During day time or when the light is bright the secretion of melatonin decreases while,during night time or when the light is dim the secretion of melatonin is increases.
  • In lower vertebrates,it controls the skin color,while in mammals it controls the sexual maturation.
