Step-by-step explanation:

Let, the price of fish of a kg = X

then, cost of a kg of rice = (X -40)

and price of Dal for a kg = ₹ 20 (given)

Condition....

EQUAL Quantities of Dal +& fish = Quantity of rice

So,

Price of fish = [240*20 + 240* X = [280 *(X -40)

4800 + 240X = 280X - 280*40

240x - 280x = -11200- 4800

- 40x = - 16000

40x = 16000

X = 16000 ÷ 40 = 400

cost of fish of a kg = ₹ 400

Check....short (Hope u understand)

fish + Dal = Rice ( Both costs 2 b equal)

so,

Fish 1 kg = ₹400

Dal 1kg = ₹ 20

Rice 1kg = (X -40) = ₹ 360

now,

240x 400 + (240*20) = (280* 360)

96000+ 4800 = 100800

100800 = 100800

LHS =RHS
