relate briefly the efforts made by the author to recover the lost dollar. why do you think he was unsuccessful?

The author loaned a dollar to his friend in thought that he will return this. He made several attempt to get it back. He met him at the platform, suggested him to take taxi to a club so it can remind him of that dollar, discussed him about the value of currency with dollar, asked if he keeps account on his trip, and asked whether he feels settled down after the trip. 
He was successful in getting back his money, as friends do not consider it as a loan and secondly it was so little a money
