There are four category of teeth in the oral cavity

  • Incisors: The front four teeth in the both the upper and lower jaws are know as incisors and their function is to cut food.
  • Canines: There are four canines in the oral cavity. Their main function is to tear food.  
  • Premolars or Bicuspids: The premolar teeth are situated behind and adjacent to canines and the teeth functions to crush food.
  • Molars: Molars teeth are the most posterior teeth in the mouth and there function is to grind the food.
