Answer:If you asked for decrease in radius of earth, I will second the answer given by Cameron rudderham.

If u have asked, the number of days in 1 yr when the radius of earth's orbit from sun is decreased by R/4. Then here is my answer,

Usually period of revolution around the sun was calculated from Kepler's third law, which leads to mathematical equation…

P²/a³ = 4π²/GM, where P is period of revolution, a is avg radius of orbit, G is gravitational constant and M is mass of sun. All one has to do is to compare the known planets to the unknown as the RHS of Kepler's third law equation is constant.

I took mars as a reference planet, whose period of revolution is 687 days and radius of orbit 228 million kilometres. Earth's orbit is 150 million kilometres, if we make it into 4 parts…1 part will be 37.5 million kilometres. With this all data,

P(e) =√(687)²(37.5 million kms)³/(228 million kms)³

=> 45.78 earth days, this is less that that of mercury. From this we can infer that earth would be much closer to sun than mercury was. I hope you got it :)
