Step-by-step explanation:

Mean is the average of the data set which is calculated by adding all the data values together and dividing it by the total number of data sets.

Mean, also referred to as ‘arithmatical mean’ of a set of data is the sum of the data values divided by the number of observations. Let’s say, for a set of data for a sample the mean is denoted by x`, the sum of the data values is 25 and the number of observations are 5, then the mean will be

x`= 25/5 = 5

Median is the middle observation of a set of observations that are arranged in increasing (or decreasing) order. To locate median, we must arrange the data in either increasing or decreasing order. If the sample size ’n’ is an odd number, the median is the middle observation. and in case of an even number , the the median is the average of the two middle observations.

For a set of data, if mean = median, then it is a symmetric distribution.

If mean > median, it is a positively skewed distribution.

And, if mean < median, it is negatives
