The waves of oscillations between an electric field and a magnetic field are known as electromagnetic waves or EM waves. In other words, magnetic and electric fields oscillate to form electromagnetic (EM) waves

They are formed by the interaction of magnetic and electric fields. Therefore, they are referred to as "electromagnetic" waves.

An electromagnetic wave's electric field and magnetic field are perpendicular to one another (at right angles).

These are perpendicular to the EM wave's direction.

The higher value of the quality factor in an oscillator means that there is a lower rate of energy loss.

The oscillations die out more slowly.

The logarithmic decrement is defined as the natural logarithm of the ratio of any two successive maximum displacements in a damped oscillation.

The two maximum amplitudes are: xn+1 and xn

These are separated by a time t which can be further expressed as xn+1 xn = exp[−λt], t = tn+1 − tn.

Relaxation time can be defined as the time taken to reduce the amplitude of an oscillator from the final to the initial value.

The relaxation time of the mechanical and electrical oscillations will be different according to the electric and magnetic fields flowing through them.
