Answer:

vapour density = density of a particular gas ÷ density of hydrogen

density = mass / volume

v.d = mass of gas / volume of gas ÷ mass of hydrogen / volume of hydrogen

equal volume under particular temp and pressure is taken ( avagadros law )

volumes can be cut

thus

v.d = mass of gas / mass of hydrogen

v.d = mass of molecule of gas / mass of molecule of hydrogen

v.d = mass of 1 mole of gas / mass of 1 mole of hydrogen

v.d = molecular mass of gas / molecular mass of hydrogen

v.d = m.m of gas / 2

m.m = 2 x v.d
