The relationship between current and potential difference was developed by sir OHM

before explanation let us denote current as i and potential difference as v

According to experiments conducted by him ,

v is proportional to I

v = ki ( say k as proportionality constant )

later by experiments ohm found that k is a specific property on material and named it as resistance ( meaning opposing conductivity )

let's denote this resistance as R

so now our equation becomes

V = iR

this is popularly known as ohms law and this is the relationship between potential difference and current
