Mitosis is a part of cell cycle where the replicated chromosomes gets separate into two nuclei.

Generally mitosis gets preceded by the stage of inter-phase when the DNA gets replicated and is often succeeded by cytokineses which divides the organelles, cytoplasm and cell membrane into two different cells which contains equal share of the cellular components.
