Education is a wider concept that includes both formal and informal means of gaining knowledge whereas schooling is the first stage of formal education in most countries. Other than schooling there are higher levels of formal education institutions such as university, graduate school, etc

schooling is the process of receiving prescriptions for what will mentally better you from someone with the authority to write such prescriptions, and jumping through those hoops. Education is the apperception and application of the schooling process.
