Hey mate...
when u try to move some object by applying a force to it, what resists this movement is static friction caused by surface irregularities blocking each other.
maximum value of applied force that doesnt start motion is called limiting friction.
when force is higher than the object starts moving and static friction is replaced by kinetic friction.
value of kinetic friction coefficient is lower than in the case of static friction..
