l is the azimuthal quantum number which tells about the shape of the orbital.
If l=0 the subshell is s.
Similarly it is p,d,f for l values 1,2,3 respectively.
Degenerate orbitals are the orbitals with same energy
Energy is calculated as n+l
Where n is principal quantum number and l is azimuthal quantum number.
Thus the orbitals having same values of n and l will be degenerate orbitals
For example, 2px, 2py, 2pz
