in the case of glass slab, the two interfaces the light ray has to pass are parallel to each other this case emergent is also a white light because the constituent of white light which are reflected at different angles at the first interface recombined at second interface and image as single white light.
in the case of prism, the two interfaces of light ray has to pass and not parallel to each other and are inclined at an angle . in this case the effect of the first interface are not reserved and the colour separated at that first interface continue along different path upon leaving the glass at second interface. hence, we observe a spectrum on the other side.
