Above right is an image from Wikipedia showing the diameter of the proton in a hydrogen atom (1.7 x 10-5 Å) and the diameter of the atom itself which is the orbital shell of the electron (1.1 Å). For those of you unfamiliar with angstroms (Å), one angstrom is equivalent to 10-10 meters.
