During inspiration, intercoastal muscles contracts, rib cage comes up and diaphragm gets inflated which creates a cavity in the lung and the pressure decreases so as a result air from outside moves in....

During expiration, the intercoastal muscles relaxes , rib cage goes down and diaphragm gets flattened again which increases the pressure on the lungs and as a result air moves out of the lungs..
